Baytril 10% Oral is a broad-spectrum chemotherapeutic for the treatment of bacterial and mycoplasmal diseases of birds, which is ready to be administered in drinking water.

Oral Baytril 10%, like Injectable Baytril 5%, have the same advantages in spectrum of action, diffusion and efficacy.

This solution allows to medicate the birds through the water, since thanks to its formulation it is extremely stable at pH from 0 to 14, with temperatures from 0 to 50°C and different types of water hardness.

Baytril 10% Oral combats the main agents that cause diseases that affect birds:

Gram negative:

Escherichia coli, Pasteurella multocida, Pasteurella haemolytica, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Haemophilus paragallinarum, Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella gallinarum, Salmonella arizonae, Salmonella enteritidis, Proteus spp.

Gram positive:

Corynebacterium pyogenes, Erysipelothrix rhusiopatiae, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp.

Mycoplasmas:

Mycoplasma gallisepticum, Mycoplasma synoviae, Mycoplasma meleagridis, Mycoplasma iowae.

Dose:

The routine dosage of Baytril 10% Oral in birds corresponds to the use of 10 mg of active substance per kg of body weight, which is achieved by medicating the drinking water at a rate of 0.5 ml of Baytril 10% Oral for each liter of drinking water (equivalent to 50 ppm). 1 liter of Baytril 10% Oral medicine 10,000 kg of weight.

La excepcional absorción oral y farmacocinética de Baytril 10% Oral permiten realizar una terapia de choque a través del agua de bebida, obteniendo el mismo efecto que una aplicación parenteral; para ello se recomienda administrar la dosis indicada en un menor tiempo (2-3 horas en un volumen menor de agua para asegurar que las aves consuman todo el producto de este periodo).
Indicaciones

Por su amplio espectro de acción, así como por su farmacodinamia y farmacocinética, Baytril 10% Oral está indicado para la prevención y tratamiento de enfermedades infecciosas de las aves, causadas por gérmenes grampositivos, gramnegativos y micoplasmas, ya sean éstas mixtas o sencillas, como:

– Infecciones del aparato respiratorio causadas por: Haemophilus paragallinarum (coriza infecciosa), Mycoplasma gallisepticum, M. synoviae (enfermedad respiratoria crónica), Pasteurella multocida (cólera aviar), Pasteurella haemolytica, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp., Corynebacterium spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E. coli (enfermedad respiratoria crónica complicada, infección de sacos aéreos, colisepticemia).

– Infecciones del aparato digestivo por: E. coli (colibacilosis), Salmonella gallinarum, Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella arizonae (tifoidea y paratifoidea).

– Infecciones del aparato genital por: Salmonella, E. coli (salpingitis), Mycoplasma gallisepticum, Mycoplasma synoviae.

– Infecciones septicémicas por: E. coli (colisepticemia), Pasteurella multocida (cólera aviar), Salmonella gallinarum (tifoidea), Salmonella enteritidis, Staphylococcus aureus, Erysipelothryx rhusiophatiae.

Dose adjustment:

Dosage examples to reach the 10 mg/kg dose according to variations in water consumption.

To avoid as much as possible the phenomena of bacterial persistence, with the consequent recurrences or relapses, it is recommended to maintain a therapy for at least 3 consecutive days, 5 days for mycoplasmas and 10 days in the case of intracellular germs (Salmonella spp.).

Due to its spectrum of action and its high efficacy, Baytril 10% Oral does not need to be combined with other antibiotics; however, it is convenient to know in which combinations with other antibacterials antagonism does not occur. In most cases it leads to a synergism.

Baytril 10% Oral can also be administered to lactating calves at a rate of 1 to 2 ml/lt. of milk replacer.

Baytril 10% Oral should be used only in the indicated species and at the corresponding dose.
